Remington 180th Anniversary Limited Edition 5 Gun Set - Serial Number 6 - All new in box
Limited Edition 5-gun set completed by Remington to celebrate 180th Anniversary.
Set No.6 (Serial Numbers 1187ER006, 870ER006, 700ER006, 7400ER007, 7600ER006) of approximately 26 sets known to exist, according to Remington documentation.
This set is comprised of the following:
1. Model 11-87 Semi-Automatic Shotgun (12 Gauge)
2. Model 870 Pump Action Shotgun (12 Gauge)
3. Model 700 BDL Bolt Action Rifle (30-06)
4. Model 7400 Semi-Automatic Rifle (30-06)
5. Model 7600 Pump Action Rifle (30-06)
History:
Limited Edition 5 gun set completed by Remington to celebrate the 180th anniversary.
Each Firearm is a blued action with bold floral and acanthus scroll engraving, a bust of Eliphalet Remington carved in relief and inlaid in gold with the dates '1793-1861' beneath a gold banner inscribed "180th Anniversary 1816-1996", a gold-inlaid banner with the model designation and signed "BOTTEGA C. GIOVANELLI". High Gloss semi-fancy walnut on all stocks. Additional engraving and gold inlays on each firearm.
There were a total of 180 guns produced in each type; however, information found in the Remington archives shows that 8 sets were shipped and 18 sets for 1998 for a total of 26 complete sets. The remainders were sold as individual guns.
This 180th anniversary set was advertised by S.I.R. Mail Order (now Cabelas) Winnipeg, MB, in the 2nd quarter of 1998 RSA journal on page No.45; serial numbers 4,5,6,7 and 8 were ordered and shipped for sale to the Canadian Market. (information provided by Gene Myszkowski)
The following was from another article on the Remington Model 760 and 7600 by Gene Myszkowski that was published by the Remington Society.
"Fewer than 30 five-gun sets, consisting of a Model 700 bolt-action, Model 870 mp shotgun, Model 11-87 autoloader shotgun, Model 7400 autoloader rifle and the model 7600 rifle, were sold in 1996 to commemorate the 180th Anniversary of Remington. The Model 7600 left receiver panel had a bear, a bust of Eliphalet mington and a 180th Anniversary banner, all gold embellished. The right panel had two gold embellished deer. The 1997 catalog offered the Buckmasters limited Edition 7600 with special pressure-applied fine-line engraving on both ceiver panels and fewer than 800 were sold. The only Model 7600 commemorative rbine to date was issued in 1999 and 2000 to honor Larry Benoit, a native ter nationally known as one of the greatest whitetail deer hunters.
