The Winchester Model 1866 was already very popular when the smaller 1873 came onto the market. The fact that one of the early calibers of the 1873 was .44-40 Winchester, the same caliber used by many Colt 1873 Cattleman revolvers, insured the success of both weapons as a cowboy only had to carry one caliber on his gun belt to load both pistol and rifle. This Special Sporting reproduction features a 20" octagonal barrel and walnut pistol grip stock. Only the finest quality materials are used in these modern reproductions, and they are popular in Cowboy Action competition.
